Written by Shamsher Iqbal

The Bargain Basement Sale (BBS) is a fundraiser that has been hosted once every year for the past 14 years that started in October of 2005 to help raise money for different charities, which change every year. BBS is a fundraiser where different companies donate their products for free are then sold for largely reduced prices to the public. The money raised is donated to various charities that are decided by the organisation. The products sold at BBS range from furniture and clothing to jewellery and shoes from many different brands such as Sapphire, Beechtree, Clayworks and many. The Bargain Basement Sale was started by Nuria Rafique Iqbal and over the years many more men and women have joined the Bargain Basement team to volunteer and help raise money for charity. The most recent BBS took place on the 24 th of November 2019 and it was held at Gulberg Galleria. This time BBS was meant to take place on the 9th of November but then it was postponed to the 24th of November due to issues with the venue. This year BBS was raising money for 6 charities which were Pink Ribbon, Rising Stars Foundation, LHWS, Care Foundation, The Giving Tree and the Fatima Memorial System. The Bargain Basement Sale was very successful this year raising Rs 7,200,000 to be split among the 6 charities. At the event there were over 140 student volunteers helping out with the sale. And from those 140 around 20-25 students were volunteering from TNS Beaconhouse. Some of the students volunteering from TNS were Shayan Ali, Aly Shahbaz Khan, Shamsher Iqbal, Hasan Ahmad, Zahra Mahmood, Saad Mahmood, Zoya Mughal, Selena Atif, Hassan Dawood Khan, Jihan Adnan Khan as well as many other students. All the TNS students as well as the students from other schools were very hardworking and helpful at the event with the customers and made sure that the event took place smoothly.
